Taking full advantage of the Vancouver power outage, the girls and I decided to park ourselves on the patio at the new Cactus Club on Burrard Street for copious glasses of Brazilians (highly highly recommend) and Mojitos. The people watching on the patio is fantastic. We had the great fortune of sitting next to a table where Mr. Delicious sat in his Prada sunglasses… mmm… we were all drooling. He also turned out to be a face from my past (as in 8 years past)… but then I had been more focused on undoing his fly… hmmm… that’s another story…
From our vantage point, we were able to yay or nay various fashion ensembles. There is one in particular that has been bothering me for a long time - the tunic worn as a dress. Honestly girls, you can not get away with this look when the top barely covers your bum. There is one style that drives me absolutely crazy and IS NOT flattering on any one. I don’t care if you’re Keira Knightley or Sienna Miller… don’t do this! Tops / “dresses” that balloon out in the midriff and then come in tight at the bottom are neither sexy nor stylish.
DON’T DO THIS:

FYI: these “dresses” were under the tops section at Forever 21.
Two poor souls rocked up to the Cactus Club in matching “dresses” - one a brilliant yellow, the other a bright blue. Both dresses barely covering their asses. It was a disaster. It wasn’t cute, hot or stylish - it was trashy. And the peroxide blond hair, towering wedge heels, cellulite, tanning bed skin and acrylic nails really didn’t help the situation. Rather tragic… What is it about the Cactus Club that draws these girls in? And why oh why do guys drool over trashy girls like this? Easy lay? What is it? Whatever it is, it’s really sad…

I know what you mean! I’ve seen this look too, and half the girls I see sporting it are surreptitiously tugging the “skirt” that keeps riding up. You can totally tell they regret walking out the door like that. Incidentally, have you ever been to the blog Daddy Likey (http://daddylikey.blogspot.com)? They have a regular feature called Don’t Showcha Your Chocha devoted to calling out these heinous “dresses.”

The only thing that can really elevate this look to “the next level” is when one of these “dresses”, that should be a halter, is paired with a regular bra — straps exposed for all to see! Klassy!
